The Relationship between the Managerial Role of Nursing Head with Prevention of Covid-19 for Associate Nurses

Background: The incident of Covid-19 has become a world problem, including Indonesia. Efforts to control and prevent it quickly and precisely but there is still a significant increase in cases. One of the determining factors in implementing the prevention and control of Covid-19 is leadership in the organization, namely through the management of the head of the room.

Aims: The aim of the study was to see the relationship between the managerial role of the head of the room and the prevention and control of Covid-19 by practicing nurses at Bhayangkara Hospital in 2021.

Methods: This research is a quantitative research design study with a cross sectional design. The population in this study were all nursing staff at Bhayangkara Jambi Hospital, totaling 123 people. This study uses a total sampling technique. This research was conducted from October 4 2021 to November 10 2021. The analysis in this study was univariate and bivariate, using the chi square test, this research instrument used a questionnaire.

Results: The results of the univariate analysis showed that there were 81 respondents (65.9%) doing the prevention and control of Covid-19 well, there were 75 respondents (61%) who said that the managerial role of the head of the room was good in carrying out his management functions. The results of the bivariate analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between the managerial role of the head of the room and the prevention and control of Covid-19 in implementing nurses at Bhayangkara Jambi Hospital in 2021 with a p-value <0.05 (0.000).

Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between the managerial role of the head of the room and the prevention of Covid-19 in implementing nurses at Bhayangkara Hospital.

Suggestion: It is hoped that the Hospital will make policies and procedur operational standart related to regular training for the head of the room regarding the managerial role of the head of the room which includes the functions of planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and special control in leadership in managing infectious diseases such as one of them is covid-19.
